Nominated in the UK Social Enterprise Awards 2014 in the Environmental Social Enterprise of the Year category, the winners were announced at the awards ceremony on 26th November hosted by comedian and broadcaster Sue Perkins at the London Symphony Orchestra St Luke’s. Although CLiC didn’t win they were immensely proud to be included at such a prestigious event recognising social businesses doing good for people and the planet whilst still trading sustainably and not relying on public grants or donations.
The second award the Winsford based charity were nominated for was the Growth Champion Award at the RBS SE100 Awards. The Growth Champion was awarded to the social venture who had experienced positive, financial growth from one year to the next. In particular they focused on positive growth across a range of turnover categories and sustainable and diverse income streams coupled with a sustainable business model.
Again CLiC didn’t win but, as Gary Cliffe, Founder & CEO said, “There are some fast growing social enterprises out there and we were amazed to be on a national short list at all!”
CLiC is a not-for-profit Social Enterprise and registered Charity who facilitate the reuse and recycling of household furniture and electrical items that are restored and sold at affordable prices to individuals on low incomes, including to families in crisis across Cheshire & Warrington. They are based on the Winsford 1-5 Estate and work extensively with the local community. They help people and the environment. A win-win!
